Festival in general

The tête-à-tête is the biggest international street theatre festival in Germany. Every two years, international artists from all over Europe come to Rastatt to transform the baroque town into a backdrop for modern theatre in public spaces. Over five days and six nights, the curated festival presents a breathtakingly mix of artistry, dance and performance in the city's streets, squares and parks.

Due to the pandemic, the two years have now become four. But from 24 to 29 May 2022, the time has finally come again. The festival will once again take place free of charge and outdoors, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors with its unique atmosphere.

The festival's cross-genre programme has both an entertaining and political claim. All in all, the opulent programme selection impresses with its diversity and sense for new artistic trends and developments.

Do I need a ticket to attend the tête-à-tête?

You can enjoy most of the shows spontaneously and with free admission. Just stroll through the city, let yourself drift and hang out wherever you like.

In addition to the varied free and outdoor programme, there is a fine selection of very special events that require an entrance fee. Mostly in the evening, sometimes during the day, you can look forward to exquisite productions with a limited contingent. A seat with the best view of the show awaits you without the crowds. Or you can be part of a very special walk. Whatever you choose, it is sure to be a very special experience.

And what about Corona?

Even though there are no official Corona restrictions anymore, we can make sure everyone feels safe by being sensitive and considerate to each other. Listen to your gut and keep your distance if things get too crowded for you. For your own safety, wear a mask in the hustle and bustle and please stay at home if you don't feel well.

Weather related changes

We are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that we would enjoy the best festival weather and that the birds will fly high on all days. However, it is always possible that due to weather or other circumstances, there will be postponements of times or venues in the daily programme. Accessible Festival

If you are in a wheelchair, we have marked seats for you in the front rows of most shows. The accessibility of the venues is marked in the programme with the following icon: . If you are travelling without a wheelchair, please feel free to help!

Gastronomy

Of course, you can also bring your picnic basket, but in the City Centre, in the Schlossgarten and in the Murgpark you will find various food stands. Help yourself and support the restaurants with your purchase.

HOW TO FIND US
Directions to the Festival Centre

... via the A5 from Karlsruhe:

Exit A5 Rastatt-Nord direction Rastatt - direction city centre on B3/B36 (Karlsruher Straße) - drive through, the BadnerHalle is on the left side.

... via the A5 from Basel:

Exit A5 Rastatt-Süd onto the B3 (Badener Straße) - drive through to the junction with B36 (Kehler Straße) - follow the road and cross the River Murg - the BadnerHalle is on the right side.

On the move in Rastatt

The individual venues are close together, so you can easily reach everything by foot. So leave your car at home and come to the festival by bus, train or bike. It's only 800m from the station to the Schlossgarten and you're right in the middle of the festival.

The city bus lines are called VERA. The RASTADTBUS line 239 takes you to many venues in the city centre. The bus stop "Marktplatz" is cancelled during the festival days.

STADTRADELN

The city of Rastatt is taking part in the STADTRADELN from 15 May to 4 June. During the campaign period, everyone is invited to switch to a bicycle and thus protect the climate. Great cause! How nice that the tête-à-tête falls in the middle of this period. www.stadtradeln.de/registrieren

You can register for a specific team. We have created a "Team tête-à-tête" and look forward to you joining our team and pedalling kilometres for the tête-à-tête.

ADFC bicycle parking

Your bike will be safely parked at the ADFC bike park. You will find the bike park at Poststraße.

Parking in the city

If you are travelling with 4 wheels, the following parking facilities are available during the festival days: Festplatz (free of charge), underground car parks "BadnerHalle", "Sparkasse", "Schlossgalerie" and "Modepark Röther".

You can park your car in the BadnerHalle at the special tête-à-tête rate of €3 per day. This flat rate is valid from 12 noon until 12 pm.
